Coronavirus

What is a Coronavirus? No, it has nothing to do with consuming a bottle of Corona Beer or more than one beer for that matter!

This virus is said to be the cause of an outbreak of respiratory illness and that ground zero was said to be originated within the city of Wuhan, China. Hence the naming of the virus Wuhan Coronavirus: labeled ID as 2019-nCoV.

There are many Coronaviruses that only infect animals. Unfortunately some have evolved in their animal hosts to infect humans. The strain that infected humans was first identified in the 1960s. Seven human-infecting types of

Ccoronaviruses have been identified since then, including this current outbreak. Coronavirus gets its name from how it looks under an electron microscope, the pathogens exhibit spikes that resemble the angles of a crown or a halo.

What Are The Symptoms?

Symptoms of this Wuhan Coronavirus illness easily resemble other respiratory infections. Infected people may experience coughing and fever, as well as shortness of breath. Some patients have had vomiting, diarrhea, and similar stomach symptoms. Pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and death are seen in the more severely infected. Symptoms could last between two and 14 days.
